Alan John Donnelly is a British Labour Party politician. He served as a Member of the European Parliament(MEP) and as leader of the European Parliamentary Labour Party.As an MEP, he was seen as a key ally of Tony Blair and served on the National Executive Committee.

He is currently the executive chairman of Sovereign Strategy, a public affairs company that he founded in January 2000.[3] The company now has offices in Newcastle, London, and Brussels.
Alan is the key driver for the North East Economic Forum (NEEF) which will drive the North East to the forefront of the creative and SME sectors Alan is the senior non -executive on the Boards of both Hey Bulldog and Imagine Together – with his extensive political and cultural links across many continents he is ideally placed to bring investment to the project.
