During the past 30 years he has been instrumental in developing many profitable companies from start-ups and small businesses to much larger publicly listed entities or selling to large conglomerates. Helius Energy plc, which he co-founded, made over £30m profit in only its third year of operation. He has had substantial involvement in the development and flotation of 3 start-up companies on the London Stock Exchange, opening the Stock Market on 3 separate occasions.

Worrall is a former Chairman of Thyssenkrupp UK, the large German conglomerate which employed 7,500 people in the UK with sales of ~1.6 billion per annum. This was preceded by Worrall starting Tallent Engineering Ltd. with 30 people, expanding to over 1600 employees in 7 countries. It was awarded the “North East Company of the Year.” Following the sale of Tallent to Thyssenkrupp, Alex was made UK Chairman of Thyssenkrupp.

Worrall was only a few days over his 21st Birthday when he passed the Chartered Certified Accountants Examinations, making him one of, if not, the youngest accountant to qualify. He is a former Chairman of the Durham Chamber of Commerce. He was previously Founder and Chairman of 1) Black Hangar Studios, a film studio located in Hampshire, as well as 2) Groove Media and Entertainment Ltd – a holographic company which won national awards for best use of AR and VR, 3) Zoneme me Limited which won the British best Soundscapes award in 2019, 4) a Director of specialist brokers London Bridge Capital Infrastructure, and more.

Throughout his long career he has had a love of music. After Live 8, Worrall toured Africa with Sir Bob Geldof planting trees for biodiesel projects During his long career he has acquired a large and iconic collection of The Beatles’ and other’s artefacts, music and memorabilia.
